It was earlier reported that some religious, political and Tamil organizations were planning to organize a protest against the A.R Murugadoss directed film Surya’s ‘7am Arivu’ for the producer’s decision to give a cut to the dialogues for the sake of the film’s release in Sri Lanka.
Since the producer, Udhayanidhi Stalin of Red Giant Movies, has come out with an explanation in a Tamil weekly that he had to do the cuts as he wanted at least the message of the main crux of the film – bringing back the Tamil Pride – to reach the Tamil audience in the Island nation, and in future that he won’t compromise like this just for the sake of releasing it in Sri Lanka, the Hindu Makkal Katchi and others have withdrawn their protest against the film in Tamil Nadu.
The Sri Lankan Government threatened a ban on the film and wanted a cut in the dialogues that speak the fight of revolutionaries for the Tamil land and their defeat at the hands of the Sri Lankan Government. And, the producer also yielded to the pressure of the Sinhala Government by giving cuts to those particular dialogues and the film is now released and running to packed halls there.
